Amagi Brilliant Park

9/10
This anime was fucking hilarious; You'll follow Seiya as he tries to save the dying amusement park from being closed down!

Yes it is every bit as ridiculous as the picture looks I rarely laugh hard enough to have to pause the show so I can catch my breath to watch it. This show delivers just that with its' seemingly innocent outlook. I'm just gonna dive straight into this one!

Amagi Brilliant Park's story is that Seiya is recruited to be the new manager of the park to save it from being shut down. If he saves the park obviously he is a hero as far as the park staff is concerned but then, where does the fantastical story come from? Well, the staff at the park are all fairy tale creatures so, the last time you flipped off mickey at a disney park that might have killed the poor guy. Being creatures of fantasy their life force is derived of 'happiness' that humans put off when they are enjoying themselves. With that in mind Seiya's whole goal is not necessarily to just save the park he has to make sure people enjoy themselves too so that he can prolong the life of his friends. While this anime does have a lot of innocence to it, it also has some back stage craziness like the mascots who look at porn on their breaks or, the multitude of the staff that ends up in a bunch of fights. Honestly, watching this reminds me of watching something like zombieland where the plot seemed serious but, the characters didn't take it that way at all. The park staff seems pretty serious at first even a little over serious but, you learn they are just trying to survive and as Seiya does better they delve into who they really are.

This anime's main strength is it's comedy aspect if you think Akiba's Trip is outlandish this one will suprise you. But, this one has a lot broader of an audience since it is based in a fairly easy setting. I have to admit when I saw the clip for it I wasn't feeling it but, it proved me wrong by a long shot. Moral of that story is to not judge a book by its' cover. This anime didn't really have a weakness my only pit peeve with this one is that it never had a second season. It has a bunch of special episodes and even an OVA but, it failed to get a second season. Though, I can understand why it never did and you will too if you watch it.

In conclusion, this anime is a great comedy. It will be the source for many laughs and I hope that this review gets it a little more recognition since it didn't receive much when it came out. I imagine that had to do with the idea it was based around an amusement park but, I think it was one of the shows during that season that flew under the radar similar to how Overlord kind of went unnoticed. If you haven't had a good laugh in a while or are feeling in the dumps let these poor bastards cheer you up so they can live a little longer!

Thanks for reading as always! Remember to subscribe and share for more anime reviews to keep those smiles big!
