Kyoukai no Rin-ne S1

6/10

Now we're going into one I am not super fond of because not every anime is great.

This anime had potential honestly but, I feel like the anime isn't really going anywhere now, I am NOT up to date on Rin-ne but, I can definitely tell you about the first season. First off the artwork. Now personally I never usually harp on such a thing but, looking at the anime in general I don't know if it was animated by the same people but, surely someone has noticed by now that Inuyasha and Rokudo look almost identical when put side by side. So much so that I even looked at the other characters and they look pretty much like the entire cast of Inuyasha with different hairstyles. Now maybe it was just because I saw the similarities between Rokudo and Inuyasha that I willed the others to happen but, lone behold I am not particularly wrong on those either. Not to mention pretty much all of the same jobs apply as well. There is your brawler your useless maiden and your monk right off the bat. Though, its not like every character is a complete rip off they do have original characters its just not until much later in the series that their presence is actually made known.

The very first problem with any anime that is going to have a bad review is characters. Unfortunately for Rokudo the person that happens to be dragging him down is the girl that he has his eyes on. Honestly, I don't think Sakura has a single defining feature much less any feature that I like. She is pretty bland over all and doesn't really come across to have much of a personality I wouldn't have such a problem with her being there (as bland characters are bound to exist) if she wasn't the main character's love interest. The list of problems for her go on and on but, I'm not writing a review on her I'm writing one about the whole thing. Generally most of the anime is comedic which is blatantly obvious considering the absurd things that end up happening on a normal basis and even during the fight scenes there doesn't seem to be any level of serious no matter how actually bad the situation is. I get it the anime is supposed to be comedic but, unless you're Gintama level hilarity you're not going to keep anyone's attention for very long. Personally I also think the people must hate Rokudo because his life is so full of problems and problematic family that his hope is literally a bland girl that can't tell someone is interested in her even when it hits her square in the face. Now maybe that's part of the joke but, I'm sorry its just not funny. So frankly I'm pretty surprised that this anime ended up with a second season much less a third one. But, don't take my word one-hundred percent for it try it out yourself and see if you get more of it than I do maybe I just don't understand it.

In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this anime to anyone who has watched a lot of good one's because, Rin-ne will come off as bland or tasteless (unless season three is a lot better) with that in mind. If you haven't seen a lot of anime I would actually tell you to watch Rin-ne considering that it is not super high in the list it would prepare you for some of the anime's that aren't going to live up to your expectation and considering it is a comedic based anime it IS still worth at least a few laughs.

Thanks for reading I'll see you next time!!...If I don't end up broke like Rokudo that is! Be sure to share!
