Spice & Wolf

7/10 (Overall) 10/10 (Romance/Adventure)

Spice and Wolf is a fairly old anime and if you don't know what you're looking for you may never find it but, nonetheless it is a good anime for starters and for the less actiony people.

I really like this one personally but, I can't give it a super high review because, it's just not for everyone a lot of people will get bored with it mainly at the cause of its slow pacing. Now that's not a bad thing par-say but, it will keep it from getting a higher review in my eyes. This anime greatly resembles anime movies rather than anime which, is why I would say it is a good starter because, the story in this one is so well-written and told it really gives a good impression to anyone who would doubt that anime isn't where good stories live. Personally speaking I think this anime is really good but, other people normally sweep poor Holo under the rug and it makes her hard to find in the pile of anime's that are out there. Of course if you would like to watch it and you cannot find Spice and Wolf you can always ask me to give you a link.

The story is pretty simple you follow a merchant throughout his travels but, along the way he meets Holo the wise wolf she is considered a goddess of sorts and has a very likable personality. You get to see our protagonist Lawrence stumble a bit as he realizes that Holo might be smarter than him. Luckily he comes to terms with it fairly quickly and then their adventures are enjoyable especially when the two get into elongated banters with each other there is some mild action that happens here and there even Holo gets into it but, it is nothing really to write home about other than the fact it seems like it is there to remind you that Holo is no just some random girl with wolf ears on her head. Holo will win her way into your heart even if you find her annoying at first because, despite her bitterness sometimes she is actually a really sweet girl that just seems lonely until Lawrence comes along to occupy her boredom. Eventually, you start to see the relationship grow into a budding romance and the guise of their martial status becomes a reality. Luckily there is more than one season of Spice and Wolf though, I do wish that this anime got a continuation over others I appreciate at the same time that they didn't milk the utters like Naruto.

In conclusion this anime is great for starters or for anyone who likes romance genre stuff. Holo really sells the show overall and Lawrence comes across as a competent male lead who is young to his trade but, quickly learns. If you're looking for a fuzzy feeling this is probably the one you want to watch and if you want to get someone who is really apprehensive about anime in general (I.E. they think it's just a bunch of hentai or something) then you should probably show them Spice and Wolf!

Thanks again for reading! Do share and subscribe for more anime reviews who knows maybe the wise wolf will bless you for it?
