Akiba's Trip
A fairly new anime that just ended recently about a guy and his gang who defend the city of Akihibara (A real city in Japan) from mysterious beings.
This is definitely NOT an anime that you can start on I would suggest watching this one as your very first anime. This is an anime for anime lovers in general so it being first on your list isn't a good idea you will not understand a lot of the references to the 'Otaku' culture. For clarification on that, Otaku's come in levels and obviously there is a really bad point but it's okay to be a little bit that way. So, on that note after you've delved into anime for awhile this is a great one to watch just because it is really inclusive to all of your anime fan base. It has Romance, Action, Mystery, and even some Gamer lingo for you.
The story goes that Tomatsu a otaku of legendary proportions gets brought into the fighting force against 'The bugged ones' to defend the city of Akihibara against them. Mayo(red head in the picture) is the one that gives him his powers and from then on they are 'Electric Mayonnaise'. Every episode they defend the city from the bugged ones and a different catastrophe. To defend against the bugged ones they have to strip them of their clothes to kill them off and return the people to being normal humans. Now I know what you're thinking and that it will be a ecchi/hentai/lewd anime cause trust me I thought that too. But, in all actuality the whole undressing thing is more like a visual for what kind of danger our heroes are actually in.
Most of the plots of every episode focus on a specific part of being a nerd anywhere from games, anime, and even retro technology. What really sells this anime though is the pure absurdity that they have happen in most of the episodes. Most of the actions they end up taking to save the day or in how they fight are pretty astronomical. It makes for good comedy so long as you get the references or even understand a little of what the episode was originally about though, in the end of the anime there is a small arc that gives some story. Since the anime just ended I do not know if there will be a season two yet but, they certainly left it open.
In conclusion, this anime is really funny for anyone who is an avid fan of anime should generally enjoy this one. It has a little bit of everything so the audience it looks for is really broad among the average Otaku or Weeb. Guess it depends on how much you want to admit it is which one you classify as. So from one anime lover to all the others watch Akiba's Trip!
