Tasogare Otome X Amnesia
8/10
Time for a anime that has long been swept under the rug.
This is probably the only anime that ever made me want to have a ghost girlfriend.(joking) I mean think of the possibilities she could be used to totally screw with all your friends and she can only ever touch YOU and vice versa. Well if I haven't already lost you Dusk Maiden of Amnesia(Otome X Amnesia) is a wonderful romance anime that hits on pretty much every mark. The characters are pretty likable the romance is paced and it really loves to play up the ghost part. It even has it's own share of drama in there for all your drama needs. Quirky as it may be the story is pretty simple to follow the first episode happens after the second one though in-case you can't figure that one out. Yuuko our maiden in the picture is a ghost and has been dead for around fifty something years and has been haunting the school that our protagonist Teiichi goes to. At first like any other ghost story she is pretty much a rumor. Until Teiichi ends up cursed by her via a mirror and then ends up being able to see her from that point on.
Yuuko is a very likable ghost to say the least and the anime does its very best to portray her as a mysterious beauty which it accomplishes pretty well throughout the entire series unfortunately it is only one season so we won't get a round two of her with that in mind you should savor every moment you get with her or she might curse you. There isn't really much of a story to it other than Teiichi finding out more about Yuuko throughout the whole thing and then eventually getting into being a thing with her. I think some of the stronger parts of the anime is that it actually focuses on the fact that Yuuko is a ghost and takes full advantage of not every character being able to see her. For instance, in the very first episode half of it is shown with her being invisible and then the other half while she is though, it seems weird to have a rerun of the same scene in the same episode. I think it made its point clear by showing the audience what a normal person would see happening versus what is actually happening. With that established early on the show makes many instances where some of the characters do not necessarily understand that Yuuko is right there beside them toying with them as they would think it is just someone messing with them a random poltergeist or any other variant aside from her. One of my favorite scene's in the whole thing happens in the first episode where Teiichi in a clever attempt to fool a classmate into thinking that his club president is still alive in kicking pulls out his phone and clearly vocalizes the conversation he is having with Yuuko even though she is right next to him.
The only real weakness of this show is that the ghost love part might scare(no pun intended) away some of its audience. Also, since there is not much aside from some slice of life and romance it doesn't have something for everyone limiting its overall audience that it can appeal to. Not every anime can appeal to everyone so this one took a good route in just being a good Romance/Drama anime which I really appreciate. I would say this is a good starter anime especially for Romance nuts and it will probably warm your heart a lot if you haven't seen a good one in some time. On the same note if you are a action person or are looking for something with a log of bloodshed this is definitely NOT your anime.
Thanks for reading be sure to share or subscribe! Oh, and keep it spooky!
