Twin Star Exorcist

7.5/10

Twin Star Exorcist is an anime that just finished and is heavy with action for all you action lovers. The main premises of the story is that Rokuro and Benio are destined to be married but, they are not to thrilled with that idea and instead try to kill all the demons before they are forced too.

This anime was reviewed the entire way through episode by episode with Animenewsnetwork. I have to say that I must agree with them on most of what they said in their own reviews of the anime in general. Twin Star Exorcist had a lot of strong episodes but, it also has a lot of weak episodes in it fifty plus run. While this is a really good starter anime for any action fan with some romance involved I will say that if you are currently watching an amazing anime I would wait a few before deciding to bark up this tree. Part of the problem in Twin Star Exorcist ends up being that they don't really spend a lot of time explaining things that people actually want to know about I.E. the twelve guardians. They are super powerful characters and are supposed to be fairly important but, throughout the whole thing only a few of them even get a back story much less an extensive one. Also, one of my pit peeves about any anime that is going to have any kind of romance in it is when they add a third wheel to the mix and then let the wheel roll off in the distance like it never existed a little bit of a spoiler here but, if Myra(not sure that is spelled right) is a third wheel that gets introduced pretty early on and to be honest she was more likable than the main female lead Benio for a great deal of time. Benio in the beginning comes off as a snarky bratty girl that has had everything go her way for basically ever and the moment it doesn't she loses her mind. Obviously, that fixes itself somewhere a long the way but, it does take awhile for people to forget about that.

Rokuro is probably the best part of the whole show while yes his story is beyond fucked up he somehow manages to be the most human of all the characters in the show. That and his arm thing is fucking bad ass. The only problem I really had with him actually applies to Benio as well. For a great majority of the anime the main characters don't really seem to get any stronger in fact they lose for a vast portion of the anime. Now, I don't have a problem with them losing par-say I do however have a problem with the fact that there was not really a way to tell that the characters were improving though. Because they lost so much when they suddenly started winning again it just appeared cheesy or out of place.

Twin Star Exorcist is a really good starter anime if you are looking to start getting into it. Though, it isn't particularly bad for just watching value either. It's not like the anime is a waste of time like some. There was a good effort put behind this one and it was enough for me to appreciate the anime in general. Even with some questionable turn of events here and there I would probably recommend it if someone asked about it but, I wouldn't go out of my way too. If you're looking to get your buddies into anime this is probably not the winner but, don't give up because there are plenty more!
