Dagashi Kashi

9/10

This anime is about candy in general well, Japanese candy in general Dagashi Kashi follows Shikada Kokonotsu(Coconuts) and Shidare Hotaru on their fun little adventures learning about the history of Japanese candy.

Again, why the hell would you watch this? Well as always I'm here to tell you what's so good or so bad about it! This anime is another one of those comedic animes that people love but, be warned it has some fan-service in it in pretty much every episode so, I wouldn't watch it at work unless you want some really weird stares later.

Dagashi Kashi is about Coconuts not wanted to inherit his fathers' candy shop because, he wants to become a manga writer instead now, this is actually a common goal among anime characters that are in anime but, rarely do we see them do anything to work towards that end. I think one of the things I really liked about this one was the fact that Coconuts kind of struggles and juggles both the candy shop and his dream at the same time. Unfortunately for him his dad has struck a deal with the daughter of a super corporation to make him take over the shop in exchange for his knowledge of candy. Hotaru is said daughter and, she acts about as well as you'd expect a rich princess to act when she gets around people who are of the lower class as she is quite ignorant to many of the bad things she is doing. Now, I get the fan-service part hell even I like some degree of it but, I think they made her a little too dumb in that department and that is why it doesn't get the ten out of ten because, the anime really insist that she is a smart girl even though she doesn't know simple things.

This is another anime where comedy is its' strength and maybe even some of its' explanation of candy can be considered a strength as it made me think of that kind of thing like I have never thought about it before which, I admit I enjoyed quite a bit. Though, for all you people looking for easy fan-service this anime has you pretty well set up as well since Hotaru ends up in pretty much every lewd situation you can think of but, even that has some comedic value considering that her demeanor is usually just so princessish.

With that this anime is another good one to watch in between seasons or episodes. Wouldn't show it to your shy friends unless you want to embarrass yourself or, unless you are sure that they will like it. Though there is some heavy fan-service in most of the episodes the anime is a comedy anime so expect to laugh I know I did!

Thanks for reading as always be sure to subscribe, share, and comment for your sugar rush!
