Re:Life

9/10
Going to get another good one this week as we dive into Re:Life a story about shut-ins getting another chance at life instead of just falling off the map this particular case follows Arata Kaizaki. The general idea of this anime/webcomic is for a shut in to get a Relife to learn about who they once were to make them not a shut in anymore.

With that we'll jump right into it. Now despite the incredible amount of age-play this thing does it is a good story over all as you can assume by the way the title looks this anime has to do with a special drug that reverses one's 'look' back to that of a teenager for the sake of them re-attending high-school in japan to try and rehabilitate them back into the world. Without any of the classmates or even the teachers knowing anything about it. Now, obviously there are a lot of problems with doing something like that and the fact that the writer decided to point those things out rather than ignore them really stood out to me as just good writing on his/her part.

When it starts off as you'd imagine there are many moral problems with doing this and even some purchase blockages. For instance a teenager can't buy cigarettes and beer but, this person is only pretending to be a teenager due to this drug which makes it problematic to suddenly go from being an adult where it is easy to obtain those things to not being able to get them or, even having the teachers lecture you about things you shouldn't be doing at your age. Another big one is the fact that some of the girls seem to fall for Arata for his maturity while little do they know he is almost a decade older than they are. Deciding to write all these issues in instead of just ignoring them really made the story itself pop and become much more memorable. Rarely do you see a story acknowledge that there are problems with it right from the beginning but, they didn't shy away from it and used it for material down the road.

Now I do think it is somewhat mundane as nothing too crazy happens during the whole show and for the sake of not giving away any surprises I will tell you that a romance does in fact happen in the anime and that I can't tell you who or it pretty much gives the whole thing away however, I can tell you it has one of the most satisfying endings I have ever seen as far as romance anime goes. The only thing that I can say definitively that was wrong is I think it lacked some ambition I think the show could have gone on much longer or even made a new series with new characters. Unfortunately it didn't go that route but the key is it leaves you wanting more and it gives you a good conclusion to an otherwise pretty basic story.

All in all the story is basic but very good though nothing overly exciting happens it makes you want more. It has a good conclusion and a good core I highly recommend this story for anyone wanting a good slice of life or a good romance. That will be all this week do leave a comment and share and I'll see you next Friday!
