Black Bullet

Image
7/10 Welcome back once again to another review we'll jump right into this one. Now, Black Bullet is fairly underground and has a pretty small fan-base as far as I know (though I could be wrong). Much of that has to do with the fact it is just not very talked about and a lot of people have no idea what it is so, I'll fill you in. This is a story set in a post-apocalyptic world where our main man Rentaro is faced with many difficult decisions in his life. He is a public officer with a powerful little girl (Enju) that he thinks of more as a daughter than anything else. He knows that Enju's life will be short but wishes to bring her a world that she can enjoy without having to fight monsters on a daily basis. There is a lot of strength in the story telling for Rentaro which makes up for some of the lesser characters as it seems they may not have been that well thought out as some of them were simply uninteresting. While this did kill some of the story for me it is not a t...

Sword Oratoria

6.5 Not every review can be a good one and unfortunately this is just gonna be one of the bad ones I'm back for this Friday's review so let's go ahead and jump right into this one. Now I try to look at every anime with the same eye to make sure I grade them fairly on every aspect that I think about. Since this was a sort of spin off season of Dan Machi I was never really sure how to look at this show. The premise of it is that you're following the story from Aiz's point of view instead of Bell's. Which, is all fine and good but there was some serious lack of Bell in this show and unfortunately I don't think people got attached enough to Aiz for her to be on her own yet. Now, while I do think it was a good idea to maybe world build a tad on Aiz as to be honest she is a somewhat unlikable character based on the fact you as the viewer never really get to learn a lot about her. In this version of the parallel story you do learn much more about her but, I th...

DanMachi

Image
8/10 I can't believe I haven't done a review on this anime but since the new season is coming out soon with Bell-kun it seems like and appropriate time to do this review. For those of you who don't know Dan Machi or (Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon) is a video game esk world where Bell the main hero is training to aspire to become a hero of the dungeon that he lives next too. Apparently there are a lot of them but this is the one we're interested in. Bell is a young man who was like many main characters has a past with a long lost parent that inspires him to act in the current era. After that child hood he came across the goddess Hestia whom is his current familia though, in the anime it has not disclosed how he got to this point with Hestia it does at least show that he is happy in his current situation with a massive crush on the 'Sword Princess' of the village. I think there are a lot of things going for Dan Machi and honestly the only...

Re:Life

Image
9/10 Going to get another good one this week as we dive into Re:Life a story about shut-ins getting another chance at life instead of just falling off the map this particular case follows Arata Kaizaki. The general idea of this anime/webcomic is for a shut in to get a Relife to learn about who they once were to make them not a shut in anymore. With that we'll jump right into it. Now despite the incredible amount of age-play this thing does it is a good story over all as you can assume by the way the title looks this anime has to do with a special drug that reverses one's 'look' back to that of a teenager for the sake of them re-attending high-school in japan to try and rehabilitate them back into the world. Without any of the classmates or even the teachers knowing anything about it. Now, obviously there are a lot of problems with doing something like that and the fact that the writer decided to point those things out rather than ignore them really stood out to me as...

Magical Bastard Instructor

Image
9/10  Now, it is rare I love something so much that I have to watch it twice this week it's Magical Bastard Instructor and I'll be giving you all of my thoughts on why this anime deserves a season two. The story in this anime is about a lazy magician known as Glenn Radars as he tries every way possible to get out of his new job to live a carefree life. For those of you who haven't looked into this anime at all I would completely recommend it for a lot of reasons but, I'll try to keep it somewhat manageable. First off, Glenn is a special character he reacts to many cliche happenings in anime completely different than pretty much ever other protagonist the only other character that I can even think of that acted this way is Kanata from  Sky Wizards  that the main character was practically failed by his writers. Glenn However, was not failed by his writers and is a really interesting character because, he does not react in a typical way and he kind of does his...

Death March

Image
7.5/10 Hey guys, I'm back with yet another anime review. Something a little different this time as we're going to review one that isn't actually complete yet. I thought that people were really ragging this anime down with no chance and because of this I have decided to do a review even though, it is not finished. Let's jump into this one right away this one may be longer than others as I try to argue a better opinion to this anime than it's previous reviewers. Death March is about a game programmer named Satou(or Sazuki Ichirou) that is suddenly transported into another world with some gimmicks from the game he was creating tagging a long for the ride. Many people and I do mean many people have consecutively shat upon this anime without really ever giving it a chance. While their concerns are certainty noteworthy and a lot of their arguments valid here is what they aren't really telling you. One of the many things that has happened in the past year or...

Trapped in another world with my smartphone

Image
6/10 Trapped In Another World With My Smart Phone is about you guessed it a guy named Touya who is in a magic world with his smart phone. Going beyond how ridiculous the whole idea of this is we're going to dive into the depths of it in this review so grab your phones I guess? Normally, I don't really watch poor anime to the end but, somehow I ended up watching this fairly average anime completely to the end. Now, I know a lot of people ripped on this anime really hard and for the most part I do agree with them however, every anime has something to learn from it including the bad ones. First off, this anime has very little ambition though, I think you probably should have realized that when the character died and was super nonchalant about it. Ignoring that whole issue is the fact that they had no real goal for this anime I couldn't tell if it was for fan service or if they were trying to be serious. It lacked any kind of direction other than lets move on to the nex...

Boku no Hero Academia S2

Image
9/10 I am back from my super elongated break to which I apologize to the readers I do have about it. I had some things that happened and to be honest I kinda forgot about this but, now that I am back I'll make sure to at least update weekly if not two times a week. Without further delay let's jump right into it! I did the S1 of this anime around the time I first started so, it is only fitting that when I restart that I should do the S2 version. Now, I could list everything that they did right and I would be here for two hours so I will pick up some of the things I thought were the best overall. The story-telling plain and simple it doesn't get much better than that my friends. Honestly, if this keeps up I'm pretty sure we'll get to see Boruto surrender under the pressure and finally end(or at least I hope...please stop killing my childhood). We learned all kinds of new things this season one for all's origin, how much of a badass stain is, and a lot m...

Big O

Image
7/10 Ever wanna see Batman in a giant robot well, this is pretty much what this is. The Big O is a story about Robert Smith (awesomely generic) who is a man whom is basically a private investigator with a giant robot of ass kick a long with one of the weirdest intro songs ever. Despite my personal love of this show via childhood and original Toonami it has just as many problems as it does cool factors. Starting off with the cool stuff like Big O which is a robot that can show up just about anywhere even when Robert isn't anywhere near where he lives. Also, the fact that the dude is really cool in most of the situations he ends up in. With more budget in his pocket than in his show he did a fairly good job of leaving a good impression on anyone who saw him. There are a lot of weird factors in Big O though that really hurt the quality. One of the main harmers is the story which I ended up rewatching and still have no clue what the hell happened. So, if you can figure it...

Fairy Tail (Update)

Image
A horribly sad piece of news is about to hit you like a ton of bricks... Everyone is excited for the new FT movie unfortunately, this is also a signal of the end of FT. While browsing the internet I happened across a quote from Comicbook/anime.com straight out of Hiro Mashima's mouth. The quote basically states that the manga will be ending and those of you who don't know much about it manga is basically an anime's script. It is a comic book of sorts that they draw the inspiration and story line from. It is the framework and heart of any anime so if it is ending then the anime is soon to follow. Here is the quote... “This project started as a fun thing to do while feeling a bit adventurous, trying to solve various obstacles in the journey. But if I continued doing just what for a long time, I would get tired, so I started including a variety of things. Since my previous work was quite a heavy story, I remember thinking to myself that I wanted to go a bit light this ...

Actually I am a...

Image
7/10 This RomCom of an anime revolves around a high school that has some secrets that not many know about such as: vampires, aliens, and even werewolves. We will follow Asahi a kid who can't lie as he tries to keep the schools biggest secret. Jitsu wa watashi wa(Actually I am a...) is a typical school anime that reminds me of something more a long the lines of Rosario + Vampire as it is similar in concept. There is a main character trying to hide a huge secret in both of these anime one being that he is a human the other is that the girl he is trying to court is actually a vampire. This one is about trying to keep the vampiric lady a secret rather than himself even go so far as to throw himself under the bus to keep from revealing her secret. It is reveled why she must keep it a secret much later in the story. Fortune Arterial is also a pretty good comparison to this anime. This show mainly goes around the fact that the main character is simply bad at keeping secrets even th...

Interviews with Monster-girls

Image
8/10 Heading back into the lighter things this anime is about a teacher that wants to learn more about the "Demi-Chan's" that live in our world. Things like vampires, werewolves, succubus, and other mythical beings are genetic defects in this world. This is a light-hearted anime made for people who want to relax and chill out with a good laugh here and there. This show mostly follows the teacher Tetsuo who wants to make a journal of various Demi-chans that are from around the world. He is fairly reliable, likable, and is pretty smart as far as anime main characters go. There are some attempts at fan-service and romance but, this show mostly sticks to its' guns with the whole just being a show about interviewing thing. Which I have to admit is a nice change of pace. I like my monster-girls as much as the next guy but, recently it may be too much so, this is a nice new take on it considering the fact that they even tried to get all scientific about it. The main s...

Tokyo Ghoul

Image
9/10 Getting into the good animes today with Tokyo Ghoul! This anime follows Kaneki a young man who ends up encountering a very powerful 'Ghoul' called Rize; this meeting would spark the beginnings of a legend among the Ghouls! Tokyo Ghoul is very highly rated for a reason and that is because its' story is so good. It is portrayed well and has great suspense for both readers and viewers! To start things off Kaneki is a pretty normal guy with little to be proud of as he is not particularly special in anyway though, this changes when he catches the attention of a female ghoul named Rize. It would be a fate that he could never have wanted or dreamed of considering how ghouls are viewed across the world in Tokyo Ghoul. Ghouls in this show are people that eat human flesh and have powers to go along with it to do so. Effectively they come across like vampires but, there are many differences between the two and considering what they normally eat it is not hard to see why on...

Witchblade

Image
8/10 Witchblade is an anime that is based off of the American comic Witchblade. Which is uber bad ass if you haven't looked into it. The anime circles around a young woman and her daughter after a large scale natural disaster leaves japan in shamble or more so Tokyo. Witchblade is an action heavy anime with little heart to heart and is mostly about using the Witchblade to protect Amaha's daughter. Amaha is the inheritor of the Witchblade power which if you don't know anything about here is a brief history. Witchblade is a powerful female-only power that infects the user so long as they wear a gauntlet or in the anime's case a bracelet that incorporated them with the Witchblade in the first place. Top Cow produced this along side The Darkness which is another weapon of mass destruction that has even bested the entire justice league from DC comics including Superman. So it is safe to say that anything involving The Darkness or The Witchblade is bound to pack a pu...

Kekkaishi

Image
6/10 Kekkaishi revolves around a dynamic duo of exorcist who take their jobs as seriously as you can. Fighting off demons around the school or around the city is about all you can ask for a pair of teenagers. First off I'd like to apologize for the lack of post ended up with some family issues expect more to come nowadays. With that out of the way lets hop into Kekkaishi which receives a pretty average rating. At first this anime comes across very strong and will probably leave a lasting impression for it but, it just lacks something overall that would make it special. Yoshimori is our main character for the series whom is a fourteen year old kid our other main is a girl named Tokine which you end up finding out our main bro harbors feelings for despite the age difference. Though this anime is supposed to be comedic it is far more actiony and any comedy that did get put in was mostly dry. Honestly the strength of this anime is probably the action because nothing really s...

Watamote

Image
10/10 Watamote is about a girl who is unfortunately unpopular in pretty much every aspect of life. Tomoko is a crazy girl in every way that counts and her death metal intro doesn't really help that despite this she is probably one of the better female characters you'll ever come across. Watamote is a comedy overall there isn't really much else to it but sometimes simple is better and in this case it really hits home. Tomoko is a character that is pretty likable to the point you feel bad for her in just about everything she fails even if she may have deserved it. If anything Tomoko is an expert at making you feel bad for not talking to the shy girl you used to know because she was probably just like Tomoko. Not super hot or super ugly just really shy with a lot of dirty thoughts and misinterpretations of the world around her. There are not a lot of major characters in Watamote aside from Tomoko but, the side characters are pretty well thought out when they do appear. ...

Fortune Arterial

Image
8/10 Waltzing into a school full of vampires that act like your everyday human isn't something that happens often unless of course you are Hasekura Kohei. Not that this anime really goes into the whole vampire thing till pretty much the end of the show. Kohei is a different character in general when it comes to these romance animes normally. Most of the time you end up with a sniveling crybaby but Kohei he is kind of indifferent about it. Not to the point of questioning his sexuality but, he certainly is less idiotic about the whole situation. This anime is a lot of slice-of-life instead of having anything to really do with romance. The romance does come but, only towards the end of the show I would say it doesn't really start becoming part of it till about episode eight. I will say that their depiction of vampires is pretty interesting though it was before "Interviews with Monster Girls" it has the same idea that blood sucking is a lot more intimate than peo...

Kaze No Stigma

Image
8.5/10 Kaze No Stigma is about a young man who is expelled from his family for being unable to control the power of fire like the rest of his family. In this family they prefer fire over wind and those who are unable to master it in the main family are disowned. This anime probably has one of the cooler main characters because lets face it the dude is just not a bitch like most of the main male leads. Granted he really likes to tease the people around him but, all in all he is a better character than most. Plus, the dude is a total bad ass in a fight I think he loses his cool in a few fights during the whole anime. Now he isn't completely infallible because that just wouldn't be any fun to watch with series like One Punch Man or   Overlord  hanging around. Granted I will say that Kaze no Stigma is older than the both of them so I guess you could call this their grand daddy. Unfortunately not enough people liked Kaze No Stigma to keep it going as it only had one season wit...

The Devil is a Part Timer

Image
10/10 This anime is about as ridiculous as its title would imply. The devil is a part timer is basically about Satan working at McDonalds. Honestly I can't tell if that's creative marketing or a jab towards McDonald's but, at the very least they made a very good anime in the process. This show fools you in the beginning by showing you a completely different setting than you would think. Giving you the impression that this may be a gory action before having Satan (Maou) end up in our world. With this speaking a different language and with no idea where he is at he is forced to use what little magic that he had to get more information. When he discovers that there is little similarities between his world and ours he takes it upon himself to find a way to get magic back and get back home to rule the land. Maou ends up in our world because he is defeated by a hero and pushed to our world though, there is slight indication he may not have fought at his full power or at...

Luck & Logic

Image
6.8/10 Luck and logic is about Tsurugi a man who uses the power of logic to fight beings from another dimension whom have invaded our world with the help of the goddess Athena. With weird powers on the way similar to something like RWBY but, not really in the same spectrum. Honestly I have to say that I enjoyed this anime right out of the gate but, I'm still going to tear it a new one. Despite the fact that I particularly liked this show since it was one of the only ones that I watched when it came out; it always seemed to be lacking something throughout the entirety of all twelve episodes. There wasn't really an explanation as to what the hell was happening and it felt really rushed. Though, I will say that the combat was cool overall the fact that the entire time I felt as though it were missing something really bothered me. Part of that comes from the main character's story-line about losing his first set of powers. If he is supposed to be a badass then fucking act ...
